Entry into our Early Years: Children aged from 2 1/2 to 5 years
The majority of boys and girls join our Lower or Upper Kindergartens between the ages of 2 1/2 to 4 years, for either half or full days. Many children also join our Transition classes at age 5 to mark the start of their full time education.
Entry into our Early Years is extremely popular and early registration is vital as places are allocated with priority to siblings and then on a first-come, first-served basis.
We are very flexible about the number of sessions available to your child throughout the Kindergarten and we work with you to tailor their attendance according to your wishes. Some children are introduced to school slowly, increasing their time gradually at set stages throughout the year whilst others are more able to cope with a full school day from the outset. Options will be discussed with you when you come along to view the school and speak with our Headmistress, Kaye Lovejoy.
We expect children to remain with us until they leave for their senior schools at age 11, as we feel there are huge benefits in allowing children to grow and develop in a small school environment. Our children profit from Coopersale Hall's nurturing environment and thrive with our strong academic teaching and outstanding pastoral care. We find that children who are allowed to widen their horizons from a stable, familiar and nurturing base gain skills that stand them in good stead for the rest of their school life.
Our aim is that all children move from Coopersale Hall to a senior school that best supports their requirements. Read here how we prepare children for their 11+ entrance exams and see where our Year 6 children moved to last year.
We recognise that children learn at different rates and so have adopted a personalised approach to learning. Our gifted and talented children are extended and challenged, and those who need a little more help are well supported. As a relatively small school, our children and staff know each other very well. We also get to know our parents and aim to build excellent relationships with you from your first days with us. You will have the opportunity to talk with your child's teacher on a daily basis if needed, together with regular meetings with us to ensure a full flow of information so that you know what's going on.
Next Steps - Joining Our School
- Firstly have a good look around our web site. You will find lots of information that will help you get to know our school. Have a look at our recent Newsletters, which will show the regular activities that go on at Coopersale Hall. Take a look at the Parents' Association section, which will show you some of the ways you could become involved with your child's school.
- Come along to one of Open Mornings, which will include a tour with some of our older ambassadorial pupils, a talk by the Headmistress, discussions with staff and, most importantly, the opportunity to see the school in action. Read more about our Open Mornings here.
- Come and see us. If you can't make an Open Morning, or even if you would like another look on your own or with another member of your family, contact the School Office to make an appointment for a personalised tour of the school with the Headmistress followed by a discussion about your child's entry into Coopersale Hall. Taster sessions are often arranged at this stage.
- Register for a place. Complete the Registration Form below and return it to us with your non-refundable registration fee of £40. This will ensure your child is placed on the appropriate entry list. We keep in touch with families who have registered at regular intervals and will invite you to events at the school from time to time.
- If your child is offered a place at Coopersale Hall, we will ask you to pay a non- refundable deposit of £500 that will deducted from your first term's fees.
