Historical Fiction Competition

Mrs. Graves was delighted to announce the winners of our annual Historical Fiction Competition.

The following students received a certificate and prize:
1st Place – Amelia
2nd Place – Reeva
3rd Place – Louise
Runner-up – George

Mrs. Graves was thrilled with the high quality of all the submissions.

Amelia’s winning piece, The Angelic War of Rights, was inspired by A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle, the song Labour by Paris Paloma, and the series Downton Abbey.

Reeva’s story, The Berlin Wall, explores a more recent historical period, while George’s entry, The Siege of Yorktown, delves into the American Revolutionary War.

Louise took inspiration from Ancient Egypt in her story Egyptian Siblings, introducing her main character in a unique way:
“By way of introduction, I am Tivali, Cleopatra’s favorite CAT. Not to brag, but my name means ‘Gift of God,’ and Cleo REALLY likes me.”

All entries have been compiled into a folder and placed in the library for students to read and enjoy.
