House Assemblies – May 2025

The children gathered in their House groups to read Ish by Peter H. Reynolds, a story that emphasises the importance of perseverance, self-belief, and embracing imperfection. The book encourages children to try their best and take pride in their efforts, even if the results are not perfect.

Pupils responded thoughtfully to the story’s message, sharing personal experiences that reflected its themes. They discussed the value of trying new things and enjoying the process, even if they felt they were only “-ish” at them. The key takeaway was: have a go, keep persevering, and don’t be too hard on yourself—improvement comes with continued effort.

Each House also used this time to talk about upcoming events, including Sports Day, and to revisit the lyrics of their House song.
