Year 10 & 11 History Workshop

Year 10 and 11 History students took part in an interesting source based workshop led by curators (Andrew and Victoria) regarding the start of the NHS. As part of Paper 2 (Health and The People), we focussed on the final part of the unit of work which explores health reform in Britain. Pupils were each given a source file as an important person in the decision making cabinet in 1945. They had to extrapolate information to present their views in parliament regarding what they agreed with, how the infrastructure would look, how it would be funded and how sustainable it would be. There were discussions about communism, capitalism, colonialism and radicalism. Pupils had a great time as the role of a politician in 1945.
