Year 2 - The Great Fire of London, Artwork, March 2026

Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the history of the Great Fire of London in 1666. Their learning has included an engaging workshop, topic lessons, and a treasure hunt around the school grounds to find Samuel Pepys’ lost Parmesan cheese. They have also taken part in art activities and recreated houses typical of London at the time as part of their homework.

Both classes worked collaboratively to produce a striking collage depicting London in flames, showing homes burning after the fire began in a bakery on Pudding Lane.

Mrs Hogarth and Mrs Zylstra were delighted with the pupils’ enthusiasm and creativity, particularly in the effort they put into their homework models and their thoughtful contributions to the collage. The finished piece beautifully captures a significant moment in London’s history. Well done, Year 2!
