Year 1 Enjoy caring for their Chicks

Year 1 have thoroughly enjoyed observing the process of chicks hatching from their shells. It has been a wonderful opportunity for them to witness this remarkable event and experience the process first-hand, bringing their learning to life in a memorable and meaningful way.

Mrs Kerrigan has commented on how much the pupils have learnt and how engaged they have been throughout the experience of having chicks in the classroom. The children showed great care and responsibility, listening carefully to instructions when holding and gently stroking the chicks.

One particularly special moment was when Owen was delighted to find that the chick he was holding had fallen asleep in his hands. Experiences like this have not only been enjoyable but have also supported learning across a range of areas, sparking curiosity, thoughtful questions and lively discussions among the pupils.
