Stories Through Drama

The Seniors book club have continued to share stories with the KS1 pupils in the library, bringing each tale to life through drama and expressive storytelling.

This term, the Year 2 pupils have particularly enjoyed listening to African folktales, which complemented their topic work on Africa.

After hearing We All Went on a Safari, the pupils were eager to tell the Seniors about their favourite animals and thoroughly enjoyed learning the African names for them.

They read Hugless Douglass by David Melling to the Year 1 pupils, taking time to read and act out the story for them.

One bright spring morning, Douglass wakes up knowing there is one thing he desperately needs — a hug. Everyone knows that the best hugs are big, tall and cosy, but will poor Douglass ever find the perfect bear hug? The Year 1  pupils thoroughly enjoyed finding out.
