Early Years and Infant Final Assembly of 2025

Mr Wilson was delighted to welcome the EYFS and Infant pupils to the hall for our final assembly of 2025. The children enjoyed hearing about the history of St Nicholas, a fourth-century Greek bishop known for his generosity and secret gift-giving. One famous story tells of him dropping gold coins down a chimney, where they landed in stockings and shoes by the fire, saving a poor family from poverty. This act of kindness is remembered today through the tradition of leaving stockings and shoes to be filled with gifts.

Known by many names across different countries, St Nicholas became Sinterklaas in the Netherlands and eventually evolved into the Santa Claus we associate with Christmas. His spirit of kindness and generosity continues to be remembered and cherished each year.

As Mr Wilson retold the story, pupils enjoyed musical accompaniment that helped them imagine St Nicholas’s journey across the skies. They were captivated by the musicians’ performance and responded with enthusiastic applause.

The assembly concluded with applause for the raffle winners, celebration that the Elf had been freed and found a new home, and recognition of pupils who received Headteacher’s Awards for their hard work and kindness. Thank you to FOCHS for the wonderful hampers given to our raffle winners.

Mr Wilson wished everyone a warm and happy Christmas and looked forward to seeing them in the New Year.
