Year 2H Still Life Sketching

Year 2 Hogarth have been developing their skills in shading and tone. During their art lesson, they explored proportion and shade and enjoyed creating their own still-life sketches using fruit, teapots, and plant pots. The pupils carefully observed the relative sizes of each item and took time to draw them from the viewpoint and angle at which they were seen.

The children worked hard and thoughtfully considered the position of light and shade on each object, taking all of these elements into account. At the end of the lesson, the pupils created their own live gallery, where they looked at and admired each other’s sketches. Mrs Hogarth was very impressed with how hard-working and committed the pupils were in producing their still-life artwork.
