Year 11 Poetry Live

Our Year 11 girls recently attended Poetry Live, a nationally recognised educational event, at the London Apollo Theatre in Victoria. This inspiring experience gave pupils the opportunity to hear live performances from some of the UK’s most celebrated poets.

During the event, students listened to and learned from Carol Ann Duffy, Imtiaz Dharker, John Agard, and Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, who each performed their work and shared insights into their ideas, language choices, and creative processes. What a treat! Hearing the poets discuss their own writing allowed students to develop a deeper understanding of meaning, context, and authorial intention.

Pupils also benefited from expert GCSE exam advice from the Chief Examiner, who offered valuable guidance on how to approach poetry questions with confidence. A really enjoyable day out for all!
