House Assemblies - September 2025

House Assemblies - September 2025

Both Beech and Willow held a thoughtful assembly, where they discussed a story read by Miss Gilbert and Mrs Biddle from Chicken Soup for the Soul. The story, The Cookie Thief, told of a lady who bought a bag of cookies and believed the man next to her was stealing them. Only after boarding her plane did she realise that she had been the real “cookie thief” and that the man had kindly shared his cookies with her despite her mistake. This led to a meaningful discussion about perspective, how it shapes our judgements, and the importance of kindness. During the assembly, pupils were also introduced to their House Captains and heard about some of the exciting events planned for the year ahead.

Chestnut and Oak also introduced their House Captains and warmly welcomed new members to their houses. They reflected on last year’s successes and shared what they were most looking forward to in the coming year. Pupils reminded themselves of their house mascots and songs, and spoke about how teamwork, communication, and individual achievements all contribute to the strength of their house. To finish, Chestnut House decorated chestnut leaves to brighten their house noticeboard.
