Hello Yellow Day Assembly

On Friday 10th October, the whole school gathered in the hall for a celebratory assembly. We began by announcing the winners of the Sunflower Competition, who received vouchers for the Pottery Centre in High Ongar. Pupils who took part and nurtured their sunflowers at home were each awarded 25 house points for their efforts.

Mr Wilson proudly introduced the new School Council members and presented them with their badges, while Mrs Bull and Mrs Stanley announced that the council would hold its first meeting later that day.

The assembly also recognised participants in the Mental Health Awareness Competition, where pupils and staff shared their ideas on how to support wellbeing. Prizes were presented by Agastya, Head of Wellbeing, to both the winning pupils and staff member, Mrs Kerrigan.

Mrs Stanley then explained why many of us were wearing yellow, before welcoming Miss Jo Langley, who spoke about the importance of “Hello Yellow Day”, organised by the charity Young Minds. She encouraged everyone to talk openly with family or trusted adults when they feel worried, reminding us that sharing our feelings helps lighten our burdens. Pupils were invited to share their feelings and Miss Langley was over whelmed with the wonderful and honest feelings that the pupils expressed. It was lovely when Robert in year 3 shared with everyone that the thought "we at Coopersale are the best," everyone applauded him.

It was a truly uplifting assembly that promoted kindness, positivity, and the message that no one is ever alone in how they feel.
