Year 6 Trip to Epping

The Year 6 children had a very productive afternoon exploring Epping High Street. They discovered how its purpose has changed considerably over time, from the days when stagecoaches travelled through from London to East Anglia. Along the way, they identified landmarks that would have stood for centuries and imagined where horses were once stabled while travellers rested at the many inns.

A highlight of the visit was being able to sit inside the Black Lion pub, which has been welcoming visitors since 1539 and still operates today.

As a reward for their excellent behaviour, the children stopped at Costa, using their own money to purchase drinks that would have been unimaginable on the High Street a century ago.
