Year 4 Celtic Harmony

To consolidate our learning in History this term, 4B and 4W travelled back in time leaving all traces of technology and home comforts behind. We went from being Neolithic Hunter Gatherers to Bronze Age Potters in a dynamic journey through a million years of Prehistory.

Our trip started with a talk and demonstration of the evolution from Stone to the Iron Age where we had the opportunity to look at examples of real metal ores. Following a Stone Age Flint tool talk, we then went hunting with spears for animals in the woods, including a giant mammoth!

We particularly enjoyed the experience of grinding grain on Iron Age Quern Stones and making dough balls, realising that life for children in the past was very hard work!

The afternoon was time to make our very own Bronze Age beaker pot followed by a live storytelling session in the Chief’s hut before travelling back to the current day. Year Four thoroughly enjoyed their day as Hunter Gatherers.
