Pupil Spotlight - Ula sells honey for Charity
Ula has raised an impressive £1,460 for St Clare Hospice through the sale of honey produced from her families hives.
She has been raising money for the charity for over four years. The staff at the hospice are always welcoming and truly lovely people. Ula has enjoyed getting to know them and always looks forward to visiting this inspiring place.
At her family home, they keep four beehives and soon realised they had more honey than they needed. Ula and her father came up with the idea of selling the honey and donating the proceeds to a local charity.
They learned about bees, how to maintain the hives, extract the wax, collect and sieve the honey, and ensure the jars were properly sterilised before decanting and labelling them for sale. This has been a shared project between Ula and her father, and she is delighted by how much they have both learned, as well as how much she enjoys doing it with him.
Since starting, they have expanded their range to include honey brought from Greece and Spain by family friends. Did you know that Spanish honey is much darker in colour than Greek honey? To help their customers choose their preferred type, they label each jar with the flag of the country of origin.
Congratulations Ula for all the money raised, we at Coopersale Hall are really proud of you!
