Our Friday Celebration Assembly began with a wonderful rendition of “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” from the musical My Fair Lady. Grace and Scarlett from Year 4 performed beautifully, accompanied by Mr. Wilson on the guitar. The audience showed their appreciation with enthusiastic applause, and we were especially impressed by the expressive way they brought this classic song to life.
Mrs. Vora was pleased to announce the winners of our photographic competition, “Signs of Spring.” She engaged the children in a discussion about the seasonal changes they had observed, and she was delighted with their thoughtful responses. The competition was highly competitive, making it difficult to choose the finalists. Everyone applauded the winners, and all the entries were displayed for the school to admire and appreciate.
Finally, Mrs. Zylstra introduced and launched our Maths Day Sunflower Competition. This exciting challenge includes two categories:
- Sunflowers Grown at School – Participants will be judged on the height of their sunflowers. Children can choose to plant their seeds in pots or directly in the ground. Only the tallest plants will be measured, and students will track their sunflower’s growth over time.
- Sunflowers Grown at Home – Children can purchase sunflower seeds for £1.50 to grow at home. After the summer holidays, they will bring back only the flower head, and the winner will be the one with the largest bloom.
Additional sunflower seeds will be available for purchase, with all proceeds going to our chosen charities: the Spinal Association and Little Life Savers.
Mrs. Zylstra also reminded the children that the funds raised from “Yes Day” on Friday, 21st March, would also be donated to these charities. The assembly concluded on this uplifting note, with a reminder of the five special questions pupils can ask their teachers next week—questions to which teachers can only respond with “Yes!”
