Year 1 Vora welcomed everyone to their class assembly, where they performed the story of Sally and the Limpet. The tale was set on the beach, and everyone was suitably dressed in shorts, hats, and sunglasses.
We thoroughly enjoyed watching the pupils explore the rock pools, especially the moment when Frankie discovered a shell with a limpet inside—only for it to get stuck on his finger! We were captivated as Daddy, Mummy, and even Mr Wilson tried to remove the limpet, all without success. Eventually, Frankie had to be taken to hospital, where Doctor Valentina found the situation highly intriguing.
Finally, Rory suggested feeding the limpet a carrot. Once it had a full tummy, the limpet let out a loud burp and released its grip on Frankie’s finger!
The assembly concluded with everyone joining in our school prayer.
This whimsical story highlighted many of the facts the pupils had learnt during their topic work. Mr Wilson particularly enjoyed the songs the children sang, including Stuck on You by Lionel Richie, and felt they delivered their lines and actions superbly. Mrs Vora was very proud of how well the pupils performed and was delighted they had the opportunity to present their work to their families and the rest of the school.
