At the end of March, Coopersale Hall School pupils began a sunflower growing competition. After three and a half months—and a mix of spindly stems, impressive efforts, and more than a few wilted plants—we now have a winner of the tallest sunflower category.
The competition had two parts: children grew sunflowers at school, aiming to produce the tallest plant, and they are also taking part in a second challenge to grow the sunflower with the largest head at home. These sunflower heads should be brought in at the start of the Autumn term, ready for judging. Please hand them in to the Year 5 teachers. Winners of the sunflower head competition will receive a voucher for the Potty Painting Studio in High Ongar.
The class with the tallest sunflowers this year is 1S. Their plants stood proud, healthy, and impressively tall. Congratulations to Mrs Stanley, the children of 1S, and to Mrs Simikel—your careful nurturing paid off, and you are worthy winners!
