Practical Maths in Year 1 Daly

Pupils from Year 1 Daly have been learning about capacity by measuring red water into milliliters using syringes and recording how much they hold. They’ve been putting containers in order from those that hold the least to those that hold the most, looking at labeling, reading about capacity and encouraged to look at containers at home –  every day maths is all around us in our environment.

They’ve been learning about multiplication using an array of objects to understand the concept, and later on division. They loved using the polished pebbles and eating the healthy snacks!

They’ve also had fun measuring toys and finding out how tall they are in centimeters. Mrs Daly is very proud of how hard they’ve all been working. Well done children!
