As part of the art curriculum, the pupils from Year 1 have been learning about the British artist, Andy Goldsworthy.
In order to fully appreciate his work, the children enjoyed some outdoor learning. They experienced a day getting in touch with nature by creating their own works of art using natural materials at Epping Forest Visitor Centre.
They walked through the beautiful forest enjoying a variety of activities that included hugging trees, tree leaf bingo, listening to bird song and ‘painting’ trees.
The children then worked in groups to create their own Andy Goldsworthy art. They loved collecting leaves, seeds, flowers, twigs and logs to make pictures and mixed soil, leaves and water to make an aromatic nature cocktail.
There were smiles all round from the children and staff. It was a fantastic experience.
