Yesterday we welcomed Rev. Batson, from St. John’s Church in Epping, into our assembly. He came in and spoke to the pupils about ‘Advent’, encouraging some pupils to take part.
Christians turn to Advent as time of light and preparation. The four Sundays preceding Christmas, which is when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, are recognised for four virtues. The candles on the Advent wreath symbolise hope, love, joy and peace. The candles are lit in that order, beginning on the 26 November.
