Children in Reception and Year 1 did a range of activities to promote gross motor skills instead of practising their handwriting, from finger painting times tables, playing addition connect four and snakes and ladders to seeing how tall they could build block towers … The Year 6s were close by throughout the day to ensure nobody used a pen, whilst completing tasks of their own!
Year 6 had to make a structure from spaghetti and marshmallows that would hold the weight of an apple for at least 10 seconds. It was a tricky task but there were some excellent structures that had been carefully thought through that managed it!
