Where did Harvest Celebrations originate? What have people always done at Harvest time? How are we doing the same things in a modern world?
These questions were answered in a wonderful variety of themed presentations by Coopersale pupils in their special Harvest Festival Assemblies.
Celtic and Saxon history, spiritual history, gratitude and thanksgiving to God, songs and prayers, poems, providing for others – they covered it all.
Miss Barnard helped us to see how thinking positively, through gratitude and good thoughts, can really help us deal with difficult times. Who knew a tea bag and a flame could tell us so much!
The children in Early Years performed songs such as Bean Harvest, The Sun Came Shining Down, and Big Red Combine Harvester, followed by a prayer from Roman and Amelia.
As part of our celebrations, we took up the theme of providing for the needs of others by collecting for the Loughton/Epping Food Bank. Families showed their compassion and generosity in helping the local community through their donations.
Well done and thank you to all our families.
