Year 1 enjoyed a trip to Barleylands where they listened to the story of the hungry caterpillar and then made healthy salads linking to their PSHE topic of Healthy me.
To link with their topic of ‘maps’, the children followed a map of all the fruits and vegetables that the hungry caterpillar had eaten which led them to all of the baby farm animals. The children fed lambs with bottles of milk and also fed the goats and saw the piglets feeding from their mother. Due to the bad weather, the children then went in to the reptile house and saw many nocturnal animals. They loved seeing the bat flying and the king snake in its enclosure.
It was a wonderful day full of hands-on learning and fun!
