Isla Investigates The Victorians

As part of the Humanities Club, Isla in 5N, decided to focus on the Victorian period of history. The children had been asked to select a period of history that inspired them.

Isla said “I am really interested in the Victorians, because they invented so many things, the Industrial Revolution inspired so much and it was amazing to learn how life was so different for people in the different classes that they were born in, the Victorians were definitely keen to remind people of their place in life. The upper classes definitely considered themselves superior.

I enjoyed researching the Victorians so much I decided to dress as a Victorian maid for our Historical Figures day.  I don’t think that I would have liked to be a maid in this time as they would have had to get up by 6.30am and then finish at 10 pm doing lots and lots of back-breaking jobs!”

Mrs Graves was delighted to read this wonderful piece of research in her own words, and pleased with the wonderful and informative poster that Isla created.
