Year 2 took a trip to Waltham Abbey as part of their topic studies: What Makes a Town, and Famous People.
Each class took a walk around Waltham Abbey spotting buildings on their Town Treasure Hunt Sheet. Some of us were invited into the Post Office to have a look around.
We also visited Epping Forest Museum where we learned about prominent people from the area. We learned about Thomas Willingale who fought to allow people to continue to lop trees in Epping Forest and to hunt for food.
We also learned about Jill Barklem from Epping, who wrote and illustrated the Brambly Hedge children’s books. Some of the children got to dress up as historical characters from the area.
Catherine and Charlotte at Epping Forest Museum were knowledgeable, patient and fun.
Also, our own Boys in Boy heroically tackled a two hour journey through traffic to get to us all to pick us up – thank you.
