Year 2 had an excellent trip to Colchester zoo as part of their learning about Africa. It was amazing to see the African animals up close (but not too close!)
There they saw their favourite African animals eating, resting, climbing. The biggest shock was how big they all were! The hot weather helped us to appreciate the type of environment these animals live in when in the wild.
The children learnt how different animals camouflage themselves to hide from predators and African elephants can live up to 70 years!
Colchester Zoo is huge and has many different habitats to investigate. Mrs Newbigging measured 17,000 steps for that trip – no wonder we were all to tired! Well done Y2!
