The Early Years and Reception teams were delighted to host Welcome Meetings to our new and existing parents. This enabled each team to share and communicate important areas of development and learning, and also provide a comprehensive list of reminders and schedules.
What to Expect in the Early Years and Reception:
We understand that children develop and learn at different rates and in various ways. Their development isn’t always neat and orderly! While some children may experience early challenges in their development, we believe that with the right support, they can quickly overcome these difficulties. Every child is capable of making good progress when given the appropriate help.
Seven Areas of Learning and Development:
There are seven areas of learning and development. The three prime areas are crucial for sparking children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning:
- Communication and Language
- Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
- Physical Development
These prime areas are further strengthened and applied through four specific areas:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Research shows that what happens at home has the most significant impact on your child’s early learning and development. The adults who work with your children know a lot about early childhood development, but you, as parents, know the most about your child! We believe that sharing information and maintaining good communication is key. When we establish a strong, trusting partnership with two-way communication, we create a solid foundation for identifying any difficulties that may arise, ensuring your child’s development and learning are well-supported.
We help children become powerful learners through play and exploration, active learning, and developing their own ideas. We encourage them to link ideas and develop strategies for problem-solving and doing things. We are dedicated to the holistic development and progress of every child in our school.
