The KS1 children elected by their classmates to represent them on the School Council had the opportunity to present their chosen charities during a Key Stage Assembly hosted by Mrs. Stanley. Each pupil introduced their selected charity, explained its purpose, and encouraged the audience to reflect and vote for their preferred choice.
Charity Presentations
- Tommy (2H) – Crisis
“This winter, many people will be freezing cold with nowhere to live. Crisis helps by providing food and shelter for those in need.” - Hudson (1S) – Alzheimer’s Society
“This charity is very close to my heart and my family’s because my Grandad is currently living with Alzheimer’s. One in three people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with this condition during their lifetime.” - Rory (1V) – Little Life Savers
“This charity teaches basic life-saving skills, such as CPR, that could help save lives in emergencies. It helps people know what to do when it matters most.” - Charity Representative – Book Trust
“The Book Trust is the UK’s largest children’s reading charity. Its mission is to inspire children from low-income and vulnerable families to read regularly and enjoy books by choice.” - Anne (2B) – Great Ormond Street Hospital
“This hospital is dedicated to giving seriously ill children with rare and complex diseases the care and support they need. They believe no childhood should be lost to illness.”
After the presentations, the pupils reflected on what they had learned and voted for the charity they felt most passionate about supporting. The winning charity was Little Life Savers.
However, recognising the importance of all the nominated charities, pupils suggested organising an event later in the year to raise funds that could be equally distributed among the other charities.
Mrs. Stanley praised the School Council members for their confident and heartfelt presentations, as well as the thoughtful engagement of the pupils in considering the value of each cause.
