The Early Years team was delighted to welcome the children and their loved ones into the school. Together, they explored the children’s journals, reflecting on the various activities and experiences the children had enjoyed.
This week, the children in Kindergarten are recognising the heart shape. The children enthusiastically collected glitter hearts from the water, using a ladle to scoop them into bowls. Around the room, there were several other stations where the children engaged in imaginative play, learning to share, take turns, and be kind—fostering an environment of friendship and cooperation.
The children lined up beautifully and made their way to the hall for their yoga session. The lesson began with each child taking turns holding the breathing ball, expanding it as they breathed in and allowing it to deflate as they shared their thoughts while others listened. In celebration of Chinese New Year, everyone shared their favourite animal.
During the session, the children followed Miss Dawson’s yoga poses, taking time to listen, stretch, and breathe deeply. As the session came to a close, they recited the mantra: “I am Loved, I am Special, I am Safe,” before enjoying savasana, a quiet moment to rest their bodies and minds.
Back in class, the children enjoyed a snack and picked their own book to read. They then settled down to watch a video about the Dragon Dance, a vibrant part of Chinese New Year celebrations. To mark the occasion, the children coloured a picture of the Year of the Snake.
It was heartwarming to see the children independently put on their coats and line up, ready for break time. This was a delightful snapshot of a morning in Kindergarten, showcasing how much learning happens through play, exploration, and cheerful smiles.
