The children in UKF celebrated Chinese New Year in class last week. They learnt about the traditions and celebrations that take place at the start of each lunar new year and learnt about the 12 different animals that make up the Chinese zodiac and this is the year of the snake. The children made their own lanterns and decorated them with a snake surrounding them. They tried a pomelo fruit and prawn crackers at snack time as well as enjoying a delicious lunch of sweet and sour chicken and rice in school.
Children in Year 2 made Hungbao – red envelopes traditionally given filled with money to celebrate Chinese New Year.
