On Thursday the 1st May Coopersale Hall Seniors treated their families and friends to a Creative Arts Showcase. The Showcase featured work done in their drama, music, art and extra curricular lessons.
The pupils have been involved in all aspects of the Showcase; from planning and rehearsals to costume and set design, from props to lighting and sound
Parents arrived and were welcomed with a drink and the opportunity to look at our art gallery of student work. They were then treated to some musical numbers from Ruby, Amelia, Mimi, Ivy, Skylah and Chanel. The pupils performed on violin and piano and sang a variety of songs; ably accompanied by Mr Wilson on guitar!
We had decorated and arranged the hall to represent a Medieval Banquet and in the interval the audience were served a grazing platter.
After the interval Year 7 and 8 put on a performance of “The Plucky Wives of Henry VIII” by Rebecca Lyon. With plenty of silliness and fun, “Plucky Wives” teaches students the names and dates associated with Henry’s marriages, emphasizing that the women in this man’s world are not to blame for their undoing and faced their situation with a pluckiness that can inspire us all in challenging times! The audience were thoroughly entertained!
We were extremely fortunate that Rebecca Lyon, the playwrite came to watch the play. She spoke to the students beforehand, answering questions and giving them tips. Rebecca was really impressed with Coopersale’s production of her play and spoke very kindly at the end of the performance about our wonderful pupils.
We are so proud of Year 7 and 8s hard work putting together this showcase and we can’t wait for the next one.
Here’s what some of our Year 8s had to say.
‘I had a blast! I really enjoyed being part of the amazing play written by Rebecca Lyon. It was a special day and I’m pleased that Rebecca was able to join us for the big performance. Being a soldier was really fun and I loved acting and singing with all of my peers. It was a night to remember.’
Ruby
‘In the showcase, I sang and played the part of Steve Soldier. This was so much fun and I loved the time we spent making this. I am grateful we had teachers to help us organise it. This was an amazing experience and I would love to do it again. Rebecca Lyon came and gave us tips on our show which was really special.’
Mimi
‘The play was a really fun experience. I played Anne Boleyn and had my head chopped off!’

‘In the play I played the role of Catherine Parr, alongside my fellow cast I can say we all had an absolute blast! We had the best experience and our wonderful teachers Miss Long and Mrs Jones allowed us to completely achieve our best.’
